The Quilted Dog is located just north of Cloquet, Minnesota. Click here for a map.
Gerry and Mary Thompson - Gerry and Mary bought the quilt shop in July of 2011 and continue to expand the store in many ways. Mary, a Cloquet gal, is a graduate of St. Scholastica and holds a degree in consumer home economics education and so fabric and sewing are her “thing.” Gerry, who grew up in Carlton, is also employed by Nelson Funeral Care and is the groundskeeper, handyman, and represents the male view in choosing fabrics for the store.
Abby-Do Radarsnickers Thompson - Abby-do to her friends, our black lab, is the namesake of the “Quilted Dog” and was often seen greeting the customers with a friendly “woof.” Regretfully so, Abby-do was put down Christmas morning 2012 due to a very large tumor growing rapidly on her spine. I have always been told God takes special people at special times and the same goes for pets. There is no better time for us to give our most precious pet up to God than Christmas Day. Rest in peace Miss Abby and go find your Grandpa McIntire and Ree-Dog. They will know where God keeps the ice cream. We will always love you.
Mazzee Mae of the Milky Way Thompson-Our house was way too quiet without Miss Abby so along came Mazzee Mae just 4 weeks later. She is so fun and is growing rapidly. She does not run as free as Abby-do but she will as soon as puppy training and obedience training kick in-it might be a few years. She does make guest appearances at the quilt shop but will often be on a leash. She loves company and will share treats with other puppies but the cats will have to fend for themselves.
Linda Suer-Linda is our longest employee and is married to Jim, our carpenter. They have two grown children and three grandchildren. Linda is our “creative” director and comes up with terrific ways to use our fabrics, along with continually making samples for the store.
Joan Lafontaine-Joan is a home-town gal from Cloquet and is a beautiful quilter. She has great quilting experience and is able to help you with any of your projects. when she is not busy quilting, she is watching over her two grandsons, her pride and joy!
